PROMOTION--Now you have your site up and running...but how do you get more people to start joining? Promotion can be very time consuming, but it's easier than one would think. A great way to start getting the word out is by posting in various forums. Two forums to get you started out are WAHMVoice and GPTBoycott. You can search on Google for other forums as well, there are quite literally hundreds out there. A couple good bits of advice is for you to write out your post beforehand, and then to use the everfamous copy and paste method. It will save you the hours of time you might have spent retyping your post over and over again. Another time consuming thing will be the constant registration you will run into. Downloading RoboForm will save you having to re-enter all of that information every time -- just fill out the "default identity" with your information and voila!

Links to your site from blogs and other GPTs can be a great way to promote your site as well. Check around for blogs and email the owners of them. Introduce yourself and give them the opportunity to join your site....you can even offer to give them a personal tour of it! Another tactic is to offer a link exchange. Link exchanges are a "you link to me, I'll link to you" scenario, and can be beneficial to both sites. You can also purchase banner ad impressions on other GPT sites and on PTC sites.

Don't forget promoting your site out in the non-Internet world as well! An interestingly effective way to advertise is by business cards and flayers! However, cards can be expensive, and are more portable than flyers. But, the cost issue of business cards is easily deferred by using VistaPrint.
